By using Great Minds Public Library computers and equipment, users accept to operate equipment in alignment with the user responsibilities.

 

Purpose: 

This policy has been outlined to define the Usage terms regarding computers, equipment and services within the Great Minds Public Library.


Policy Principles:

  • Your responsibilities- To access the libraries computers and equipment in ways that comply with the terms for acceptable usage. 


  • Offensive Materials- Any materials that may be considered offensive, obscene, illegal, graphic, violent, and inappropriate are not permitted to be accessed within the library or whilst using library equipment. It is an offensive to knowingly use library equipment to create, propagate and spread malware and computer viruses as well as attempting to gain access to any other systems in an illegal or unauthorized manner.

  • Harassment- Users have a responsibility to not access the computers and services in a way that will cause harassment, bullying, harm or offense to others. It is also considered a breach of acceptable terms to use library equipment to impersonate others or attempt to scam or compromise the privacy of other people.


  • Appropriate use of equipment- Parents and guardians are responsible for the supervision and resources that are accessed by children in their care. Great Minds Public Library staff are not responsible for supervising children whilst they are on the premises.


  • Copyright- Users are not entitled to access copyrighted materials, make copies, duplicate, and distribute copyrighted materials.
Penalty:

Any persons accessing Great Minds Public Library computers, equipment and services in ways that breach the terms laid out in this policy will have their access to library computers and internet removed, library membership revoked, and illegal matters will be turned over to relevant authorities.
